Long time, No post!

Hello Everyone,

Sorry i haven't posted in a while, busy with exams etc. ! But now they are over and i don't need to worry about school and things until September, yay! Which also means more time to craft....

Over the past month i have mainly dome things for the shop and family and friends (such as a cushion that i promised i would do) I have also been planning some new designs and getting things ready to make my own curtains for my bedroom.

A Taste of Africa!

I know I haven't posted in a couple of week, but i started my new job last week, but i did manage to have a creative bank holiday weekend!

After discovering this fabric and the NEC the other sunday, as well as falling in love i had to get half a metre of each! I did also have a cushion design worked out in my head. I chose the dark navy elephant print and the red to match.

I decided that it would be perfect as a quadrant cushion with a matching red back - so here it is...

Show Time!

The weekend just gone played host to one of the biggest crafting events of the calendar, it was the Hobbycrafts, Sewing for Pleasure and Fashion, Embroidery & Stitch fair at the NEC Birmingham, so 3 fairs over 2 halls - heaven for crafters alike!

Whilst there i was able to collect numerous ideas and spend plenty of money to add to my craft collection. One of the main things that happened, was that i learned another new craft - Zentagle, or what i like to call "posh doodling", as well as buying things for that i got some fabulous new fabrics, decoupage and papers, decopatch items for future presents and a range of wool!

Decopatch Items - the Baby is for my Auntie, she is expecting her second baby, its a boy (i think this can be guessed by the papers) I am also doing some buying for her 1 year old son and finally a small tea tray for my Great Grandmas birthday.

At the back there is the kit to start my Zentagle-ing, and some wonderful union jack paper, and white linen card. There are also some die-cut toppers, ready for some feature cards at christmas and throughout the year, they are most likely to end up on my shop once they are done.

Some new ribbons, and some christmas fabric (i know its early but i will be starting to make the christmas items for my shop soon) along wit some red, white and blue bobble trim for the Jubilee and finally a large button for my former Boss, as she loves buttons

Some lovely new sirdar baby bamboo, although i worked in a wool shop, we don't stock sirdar and this was only £1.69 a ball, so it will become a lovely crochet babies blanket.

Some one of wool that i found, called rustic - its a lovely slate blue, i am going to make myself a scarf from it!

A wendy wool i found, these will become crochet scarves for the shop

Bobble wool, also crochet scarves for my shop.

Finally, my favourite buys! These are some wonderful fabrics that i got and i have fallen in love with the stamp one, by Prestigious Textiles!

Mothers Day Present

Having been given the opportunity to learn how to add piping and zips to cushions, i created this beautiful cushion for my mum for mothers day 2012.

I have used Harlequin Ascent fabric, its a luxurious feeling velvet fabric that is wonderfully soft! The fabric has been used to make a wonderful cushion with a 'envelope' design which is edge by crystal trim and a crystal button.

Thankfully, my mum loved it!

Me, Myself and I

Welcome, to my new blog!

I thought it would be best to start the blog saying hello, so - hello! I also thought that i best tell you a little about myself -

Just to set the scene, I'm an average 15 year old boy, but i don't do the whole anti-social, getting up at like 13:00 and then going to back to bed about an hour later! I prefer to have a full day to do as much stuff as i can. I live in the beautiful country of England (just to add at this point, i'm not majorly patriotic, but i will never refuse a piece of fabric with a Union Jack on it or something that it typically British) in a small town that hasn't really got much in it, few mainstream shops and a wonderful craft shop - i'll come to that later.

Any way, my passion is crafts, getting creative anything that makes my mind go wild and lets me create interesting features and designs. For most of my life i have always managed to create things (even if it is/was a mess) and usually with the help of my Grandma. When i was about 6 or 7 years old, my Grandma and Grandad decided to get a dolls house, for myself and my Grandma; along with some help from my brother, we decorated and furnished this house, mainly out of things we could find around the house, it tools us a good couple of years to complete. So most weeks after this i would go round, usually because my brother was at football training, whilst there i would take everything out of this little house and then ut it back, but in a different order - unknown to me this would be my future (sort of). However, when i was 11 years old my Grandma gave the house away to my cousins, to me at this time just wasn't right, i had to have a house of my own, this was when i discovered miniatures.

Up-until about a year ago everything creative that i did was based on Dolls Houses and Miniatures, then i had a weeks work experience at The Craft Shop, in my town - from then i haven't looked back. Although I only get paid for my work when the Saturday girl is away, i have spent most of my saturdays there, and popped in every day on the way home from school. By doing this i haven't learn loads of new crafts, that i have been able to share with my Grandma, along with being able to learn how to run a shop and speak to customers on the best wool for their 30 year old pattern. But along with this, i have also created a passion for fabric, so i have been created numerous cushions for myself family and friends - from this i have recently got a Saturday job at the the shop next to The Craft Shop making curtains and blinds, along with advising people of the right colour and design.

So from this, i turns out I am meant to have a job based in design - and i love it! This year happens to be the best yet - touch wood!
